Mitchell grew up with cold winters in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Bemidji, Minnesota.  He loved riding his bike, learning guitar, watching movies, snowmobiling, snow boarding, and playing video games.

After two years at the University of North Dakota and finishing his studies Bemidji State University, he got his BS in Accounting in 2007.  He likes the idea of working with numbers and that everything has to balance.  He choose accounting because he heard that accountants would be in high demand as the older generation retires.

Mitchell is married with four boys. The family moved to Colorado in the summer of 2021.  They also have two dogs and a cat.  In his free time, he has gotten into woodworking and furniture making.  He enjoys hiking, listening to music and playing the guitar.  He can even learn and play some complex guitar songs by ear.
